Client-side script execution via crafted PDF upload
Published Jun 24, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Anchor CMS 0.12.7 allows remote authenticated users to run PDF JavaScript when a crafted upload is opened. The authenticated admin upload route accepts PDFs containing embedded JavaScript, stores them in the public content directory, and returns a directly accessible URL without neutralizing the document action. Exploitation requires upload access and a recipient to open the served PDF; script execution occurs in the recipient's PDF-viewing context.
