CVE-2024-37726Public exploit

Local privilege escalation via redirected export write

Published Jul 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Local privilege escalation in Micro-Star International MSI Center 2.0.36.0 allows local users to execute commands with elevated privileges. MSI.CentralServer.exe writes exported system information with SYSTEM rights after an oplock permits a writable directory to be replaced by a junction and symbolic link to an arbitrary target. A low-privileged user must invoke Export System Info and control the file redirection; exploitation overwrites a protected file and can plant a command-bearing batch file in the shared Startup folder.
