Administrator account takeover via userId tampering
Published Jun 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 21, 2024
Improper privilege management in wvp-GB28181-pro 2.0 allows remote authenticated users to gain Administrator access via a crafted POST request. The user-management password-change request accepts a requester-selected userId and updates that account without enforcing ownership by the logged-in user. A low-privileged account can set userId to 1, replace the admin password, sign in as Administrator, and access platform data and controls.
