Information disclosure via backslash-prefixed login redirect
Published Jul 7, 2025 · Updated Jul 8, 2025
Open redirect in Gnuboard5 5.5.16 allows remote attackers to send users from bbs/login.php to an attacker-chosen site. The login endpoint passes the url query parameter to goto_url after host validation that fails to reject backslash-prefixed destinations. Exploitation requires a user to follow the crafted login link; the browser then leaves the trusted site, enabling phishing and disclosure of entered information.
