Authenticated code execution via unchecked redirect copy
Published Jun 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in TRENDnet TEW-814DAP firmware 1.01b01 allows remote authenticated users to execute code or interrupt service. The formPasswordAuth handler passes the submit-url value to sprintf without checking its length, copying it into a fixed-size stack buffer before redirect processing. Authenticated access to the web management interface is required; an oversized value can corrupt the process stack and hijack or crash the process.
