Router crash or code execution via oversized SSID
Published Jun 13, 2024 · Updated Aug 13, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in TOTOLINK A3700R Firmware 9.1.2u.6165_20211012 allows remote attackers to crash or control the router. The setWiFiBasicCfg function URL-decodes the supplied ssid value and stores the result on the stack without checking it against the destination buffer length. The proof of concept posts an oversized SSID to /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi; published evidence does not establish whether the shown session cookie must be valid.
