CVE-2024-37630Public exploit

Root access via hard-coded firmware password

Published Jun 13, 2024 · Updated Sep 6, 2024

Hard-coded credentials in D-Link DIR-605L 2.13B01 allow physically proximate attackers to log in as root through the router. The firmware's /etc/passwd file stores a recoverable root password shared across affected images rather than a device-specific credential. Network adjacency is required, and successful authentication grants full administrative control without prior privileges or user interaction.
