Stored XSS via unescaped icon rendering
Published Jul 20, 2024 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Stored XSS in Jamie Bergen Plugin Notes Plus 1.2.6 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts through plugin-note icons. The icon-rendering path outputs an administrator-controlled stored icon value without sufficient sanitization or output escaping, so crafted markup executes when a user views the affected WordPress administration page. Administrator access is required to plant the payload, and successful exploitation also requires another user to open the rendered plugin-notes view.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
