CVE-2024-37406Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Domain confusion via right-truncated Shields hostnames

Published Sep 18, 2024 · Updated Sep 19, 2024

Domain-name truncation in Brave Browser for Android before 1.67.116 allows remote attackers to create confusion in the Shields popup. The popup shortens long hostnames by removing characters from the right, preserving a deceptive leading label while hiding the distinguishing suffix. Exploitation requires a crafted long domain to appear in the popup, where a user can mistake the shown prefix for a trusted origin; no code execution or data access is reported.
