Livechat message disclosure via chained NoSQL injection

Published Jul 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

NoSQL injection in Rocket.Chat before 6.10.0 allows remote authenticated users to read Livechat messages through crafted method arguments. The livechat:loginByToken and livechat:loadHistory methods accept MongoDB operators where scalar values are expected, causing database selectors to match unintended visitor and message records. The chain begins before authentication but requires a low-privileged Livechat context to complete, and its bounded impact is disclosure of conversation history.
