Browser script execution via unsanitized inbox SMS
Published Aug 23, 2024 · Updated Mar 20, 2025
Stored XSS in SMSEagle software before 6.0 allows remote attackers to run JavaScript in the web GUI through a crafted inbox SMS. The inbox view renders SMS content without proper sanitization, leaving injected JavaScript executable when the message is specially interacted with. Exploitation requires an operator to view and interact with the crafted SMS, after which the script runs in that operator's browser context.
