Local privilege escalation via writable protected scripts
Published Jun 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Incorrect permissions in FactoryTalk View Site Edition 12.0 allow local users to elevate privileges by editing protected scripts. Access controls on affected script files fail to enforce their ACL restrictions, permitting a low-privilege account to modify protected content. A low-privilege local account is required; altered scripts can execute in a more privileged context and provide further system access.
