Arbitrary file read via unchecked screenshot URL
Published Jun 10, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Path traversal in Jason Raimondi URL to PNG before 2.0.3 allows remote attackers to read server files through screenshot requests. The root HTTP handler accepts a file-scheme URL, passes it through schema validation, and directs Playwright to render the referenced local file as a PNG. No authentication or user interaction is required; exposure is limited to files readable by the service process.
