Database password disclosure via process-list command arguments
Published Jun 5, 2024 · Updated Nov 21, 2025
Information disclosure in Foreman Installer and Red Hat Satellite 6 allows local users to obtain the Candlepin database password. The puppet-candlepin module invokes /usr/share/candlepin/cpdb with --password; cpdb passes the secret through liquibase.sh to Java, leaving it in process command lines. Any local user able to inspect the process list during that execution can read the database credential, with no reported integrity or availability impact.
