Uncontrolled search path handling in Dell Peripheral Manager before 1.7.6 allows local users to execute code through DLL preloading. The proprietary application searches an uncontrolled path and can load a planted malicious DLL or follow a manipulated symbolic link; Dell has not identified the affected executable, library name, or path. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and user interaction, after which the planted code runs with elevated privileges and can compromise data or interrupt the application host.
