CVE-2024-37086

Host service interruption via out-of-bounds read

Published Jun 25, 2024 · Updated Nov 12, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in VMware ESXi 7.0 and 8.0 allows local users with VM administrator access to interrupt the host through a snapshot. Broadcom has not disclosed the affected ESXi component or the operation that reads beyond its allocated buffer. Triggering requires administrative control of a virtual machine with an existing snapshot, and the documented consequence is host denial of service.
