Connection interception via omitted certificate hostname check
Published Aug 13, 2024 · Updated Aug 13, 2024
Certificate validation in AdaCore Ada Web Server 20.00 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to read or modify TLS client traffic. AWS.Net.SSL.Certificate.Verified checks certificate validity but omits the requested hostname, so a certificate issued for another host is accepted. Only client-side API use with TLS is affected; the server side is unaffected, and successful interception permits disclosure or modification of connection data.
