Authenticated daemon crash via cyclic data model

Denial of service in Splunk Enterprise and Cloud Platform allows remote authenticated users to crash splunkd via a crafted HTTP POST request. The datamodel/web REST handler processes a data model definition with a cyclic dependency until an infinite loop overflows the stack. Any low-privileged account without the admin or power role can trigger the daemon crash, interrupting service without disclosed data access or modification.
