Higher-privileged risky command execution via Search ID
Published Jul 1, 2024 · Updated Feb 28, 2025
Information exposure in affected Splunk Enterprise and Cloud Platform releases allows remote authenticated users to run risky SPL commands. The Analytics Workspace accepts a Search ID query that reuses a higher-privileged user's permissions and bypasses safeguards applied to risky commands. Exploitation requires an authenticated user to trick a higher-privileged victim into initiating the browser request, exposing search results and permitting limited data modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=9.0 <9.0.10
- Affected versionversion=9.1 <9.1.5
- Affected versionversion=9.2 <9.2.2
