Unauthenticated runtime crash via oversized memmove
Published Sep 18, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
An out-of-bounds read in OpenPLC Runtime v3 b4702061dc14d1024856f71b4543298d77007b88 allows remote attackers to crash it via crafted PCCC requests. An unsupported command returns -1, but sendRRData stores it as uint16_t, misses the signed error comparison, and passes a 0x10006 length to memmove. Unauthenticated network access to EtherNet/IP is sufficient, and successful triggering terminates the runtime with SIGSEGV.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
