Privilege escalation via unfiltered 9P permission bits

Improper permission handling in the Linux kernel 9P client allows remote attackers to gain elevated privileges through a malicious 9P server. The v9fs_vfs_get_inode function in fs/9p/vfs_inode.c copies unfiltered non-RWX bits from a plain 9P2000 stat response into the inode mode, including the setuid bit. Exploitation requires negotiation of plain 9P2000 and a local process to execute the forged setuid file; the gained identity follows dfltuid, commonly root.
