Kernel code execution via TIPC fragment use-after-free

Use-after-free in Linux kernel TIPC message reassembly allows remote attackers to execute kernel code via crafted UDP fragments. In tipc_buf_append(), error cleanup frees an skb again after it was freed or transferred to a fragment list because the buffer reference is not cleared first. Exposure requires an enabled TIPC bearer; authentication and user interaction are unnecessary, and successful triggering can also crash the host.

What happened
