SMM code execution via oversized UEFI variable

Memory corruption in MSI Intel 300–700 and AMD AM4/AM5 motherboard firmware allows local users to execute arbitrary code in SMM. The MsiApServiceSmi handler for software SMI 0xE3 reuses an attacker-controlled WMIAcpiMemAddr size and destination without enforcing the expected eight-byte limit, overflowing module data and enabling writes into SMRAM. Exploitation requires high-privileged local access capable of setting UEFI variables and issuing the software SMI; successful code gains firmware-level memory and flash access.
