Path traversal in Jan 0.4.12 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through the unauthenticated writeFileSync API. The endpoint accepts a caller-supplied path and content without validating that the resolved destination remains inside the Jan data folder. Network access to the API is sufficient to create or append startup files, enabling code execution under the Jan process account.
