CVE-2024-36790Public exploit

Administrator credential disclosure via plaintext configuration storage

Published Jun 7, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Cleartext credential storage in NETGEAR WNR614 firmware 1.1.0.54 allows attackers on the adjacent network to read administrator credentials. The router writes administrative usernames and passwords unencrypted into its configuration file, which currentsetting.htm can return. Reachability requires access to the management interface; the published proof uses a separate authentication bypass from the same local network.
