CVE-2024-36619Network attack vector

Denial of service via signed WAVARC sample addition

Published Nov 29, 2024 · Updated Nov 29, 2024

Integer overflow in FFmpeg 6.1.1's WAVARC decoder allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service with crafted audio. The decode_5elp function handling block types 6 and 19 adds signed ac_out sample data to a filtered sample value without an unsigned conversion, causing int overflow. The application must decode attacker-controlled WAVARC content; the reported consequence is denial of service, with no confidentiality or integrity impact.
