CVE-2024-36468Network attack vector

Information disclosure via unchecked SNMP engine ID copy

Published Nov 27, 2024 · Updated Nov 27, 2024

Stack buffer overflow in Zabbix Server and Proxy 7.0.0 through 7.0.2rc1 allows remote authenticated users to obtain limited data disclosure. The zbx_snmp_cache_handle_engineid function passes session->securityEngineIDLen to memcpy when copying into the fixed-size local_record.engineid buffer without first enforcing its maximum length. Exploitation requires high privileges and a crafted SNMP engine ID; the vendor reports confidentiality impact without integrity or availability impact.
