CVE-2024-36439Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Administrative access via reusable client-side password hash

Published Aug 22, 2024 · Updated Aug 28, 2024

Authentication bypass in Swissphone DiCal-RED 4009 allows remote attackers to access the administrative web interface using a password hash. The validatepassword action accepts the client-generated MD5 value in the password URL parameter as the authentication secret rather than verifying the underlying password. Possession of the correct device-password hash is required and grants full administrative web access.
