Privilege escalation via DLL hijacking
Published May 13, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
DLL hijacking in AMD Optimizing CPU Libraries before 5.0 allows local users to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code. AMD has not disclosed which AOCL DLL load site or search-path operation accepts an attacker-controlled library. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and user interaction; the malicious DLL executes with the loading process's privileges.
