Settings modification via missing nonce validation
Published Jul 13, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in CodePeople Smart Image Gallery before 1.0.19 allows remote attackers to alter settings through an administrator. The settings() function accepts a forged POST to the plugin settings page and updates Google API key and search identifier values without verifying a CSRF nonce. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to open an attacker-controlled page; the demonstrated consequence is modification or deletion of those settings.
