CVE-2024-36304

SYSTEM code execution via unlocked object operations

Published Jun 10, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

A TOCTOU race in Trend Micro Apex One before 14.0.0.12980 and Apex One as a Service before 14.0.13139 allows local users to gain SYSTEM. The NT RealTime Scan service performs operations on an object without proper locking, allowing its state to change while the service uses it. Exploitation requires low-privileged code execution on a Windows endpoint and grants arbitrary code execution in the SYSTEM context.
