Stored XSS via unescaped widget title
Published May 15, 2024 · Updated Nov 7, 2024
Stored XSS in the HL Twitter widget through 2014.1.18 allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to execute scripts in browsers. The widget stores its Title value without sanitizing or escaping it, then renders that value on the site front end, where an injected script executes. Administrator-level access is required, and the flaw remains reachable when unfiltered_html is disabled, including in multisite installations.
