Unauthenticated code execution via unchecked wlanUrl copy
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jan 14, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Wavlink AC3000 M33A8.V5030.210505 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted HTTP request. Goto_chidx reads the wlanUrl POST parameter and passes it to sprintf into a fixed-size stack buffer without checking its length. Network access to login.cgi is sufficient because that authentication endpoint omits the session-cookie check used by other CGI binaries, and overwriting the saved return address enables code execution.
