TCC bypass via enabled Electron inspect flag
Published Jun 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Protection mechanism failure in Mattermost Desktop App 5.7.0 and earlier allows local users to bypass macOS TCC restrictions. The desktop launcher accepts Electron's --inspect flag instead of blocking it, exposing a debugger within the app's TCC context. Local low-privileged access is required; the reported consequence is access within the app's TCC grants, with no integrity or availability impact.
