CVE-2024-36255Network attack vector

Cross-user slash-command execution via deceptive post actions

Published May 26, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Cross-site request forgery in affected Mattermost releases allows remote authenticated users to run a Playbooks command as another user. Post-action processing accepts attacker-supplied action data without validating the command context, so a shared action triggers a checklist slash command in an arbitrary channel. Exploitation requires a signed-in attacker to create and share the action and another user to activate it, after which the command runs with that user's identity.
