CVE-2024-3623Network attack vector

Database disclosure via reused plaintext encryption key

Published Apr 25, 2024 · Updated Jan 21, 2026

Plaintext key storage in Mirror Registry for Red Hat OpenShift allows remote authenticated users to read sensitive database data. The installer writes one default DATABASE_SECRET_KEY into a plaintext configuration template, causing separate Quay deployments to share the key used to encrypt sensitive database fields. Low-privileged network access is required, and the documented impact is database confidentiality loss without integrity or availability impact.
