CVE-2024-36114Network attack vector

JVM crash and memory disclosure via unchecked lengths

Published May 29, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Out-of-bounds memory access in Airlift Aircompressor before 0.27 allows remote attackers to crash the JVM or read process memory. Crafted compressed input can overflow literal, match, or offset length calculations into negative values, after which sun.misc.Unsafe bypasses Java array and buffer bounds checks. Exposure requires an application to pass attacker-controlled compressed data to an affected decompressor; successful exploitation interrupts the hosting JVM or discloses memory from its Java process.
