CVE-2024-36105Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Documentation disclosure via all-interface socket binding

Published May 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 21, 2024

Unrestricted IP binding in dbt Core before 1.6.15, 1.7.0 through 1.7.14, and 1.8.0 allows remote attackers to read served docs. ServeTask.run passes an empty host string to socketserver.TCPServer, which Python resolves to INADDR_ANY or IN6ADDR_ANY instead of loopback. Exposure occurs only while a user runs dbt docs serve, and access is limited to hosts able to reach the listening port; the documented impact is read-only access to the unsecured documentation site.
