CVE-2024-36025

Kernel crash via off-by-one statistics array write

Published May 30, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

Memory corruption in the qla2xxx SCSI driver allows local users to crash the Linux kernel through an EDIF statistics request. qla_edif_app_getstats allocates app_reply->elem with num_ports elements but accepts an index equal to num_ports, writing past the array. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access to the affected statistics interface, and the published consequence is service interruption.
