CVE-2024-36019

Cache corruption via absolute-index out-of-bounds access

Published May 30, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Out-of-bounds access in Linux 6.4 through 6.8.4 allows attackers to corrupt cached register data in the regmap maple cache. regcache_maple_drop() indexes entry[] with an absolute register address instead of the offset from the block base when retaining a block's upper end. The defect is reached when a dropped cache range splits a block whose base is nonzero, causing out-of-bounds kernel memory to overwrite cache contents.
