Kernel disruption via stale ACL rehash markers
Published May 20, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Improper input validation in Linux mlxsw ACL rehashing allows local users to disrupt kernel availability through inconsistent migration state. On an error, the rehash worker clears its chunk marker but retains entry markers relative to the old chunk, so resumed work treats an unrelated chunk as an entry. Reachability requires a Mellanox Spectrum device using mlxsw and an ACL-region rehash that exhausts its credits and then encounters an error.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
