Kernel crash via unchecked I2C transfer callback

NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel I2C/SMBus support from 4.19 allows local users to crash the kernel through a target-only controller. __i2c_transfer assumes an adapter transfer callback exists and calls it without checking for NULL when the DesignWare controller runs only as a target. Low-privilege local access and the target-only I2C configuration are required; successful triggering causes a kernel OOPS and service interruption.
