Kernel crash via unchecked netfilter input length
Published May 20, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Improper input-length validation in Linux netfilter allows local users to crash affected systems through a crafted table-replacement request. The IPv4, IPv6, and ARP do_replace handlers trust a declared table size before copy_from_sockptr_offset reads beyond the supplied option length. The path requires low-privileged local access to issue a netfilter setsockopt request, and successful use interrupts the system.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
