Host soft lockup via unbounded DPMCU status wait
Published May 20, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Denial of service in affected Linux kernel releases allows local users to soft-lock the host through the AST DRM display path. In ast_dp_set_on_off(), a while-loop waits without a timeout for a VGACRI-Dx scratch register that the DPMCU cannot update while the SCU lock remains set. Reachability requires an AST DisplayPort device and the locked SCU state; the unbounded wait stalls the host without disclosing or modifying data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
