CVE-2024-35944

Service interruption via field-spanning VMCI datagram copy

Published May 19, 2024 · Updated May 12, 2026

Out-of-bounds write in the Linux kernel VMCI driver allows local users to interrupt service by submitting a crafted datagram. dg_dispatch_as_host copies the datagram header and attacker-controlled payload through the 24-byte msg field into an adjacent flexible array, triggering FORTIFY bounds enforcement. Access requires local low-privilege execution and a reachable VMCI host-dispatch path; the published impact is limited to availability.
