Local denial of service via kTLS reference leak
Published May 19, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Memory leak in the Linux kernel kTLS receive path allows local users to exhaust kernel memory and interrupt service through lock failure. tls_sw_recvmsg increments the psock reference before acquiring tls_rx_reader_lock, then returns on lock failure without dropping that reference. Low-privileged local access is required; repeated failures retain kernel memory and can interrupt service through resource exhaustion.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
