CVE-2024-35898

System interruption via unprotected flowtable traversal

Published May 19, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Race condition in affected Linux kernels allows local users to interrupt the system through concurrent nf_tables flowtable operations. __nft_flowtable_type_get() traverses nf_tables_flowtables without read-side protection while nft_unregister_flowtable_type() can remove an entry; the fix uses RCU traversal and locks the entire lookup. Exploitation requires local low-privilege access and a concurrent flowtable-type unregistration during new-flowtable processing.
