Kernel-stack disclosure via uncleared skbmod padding
Published May 19, 2024 · Updated May 12, 2026
Use of uninitialized data in affected Linux kernels allows local users to read four kernel-stack bytes through a netlink reply. tcf_skbmod_dump() serializes struct tc_skbmod without first clearing its four-byte padding hole, returning uninitialized stack contents to user space. The disclosure requires local low-privileged access to the traffic-control netlink path and is bounded to four bytes in each affected dump.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
