Contributor-level stored XSS via unsanitized Counter attributes
Published May 2, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Getwid – Gutenberg Blocks 2.0.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts in page visitors’ browsers. The Counter block writes decoded separator and decimal attributes into rendered data attributes without WordPress safeHTML filtering. Contributor-level access is required to save a crafted block, after which opening the stored page runs the injected script in each visitor’s browser.
