Service interruption via unchecked of_modalias length
Published May 19, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux allows remote attackers to crash affected kernels via an invalid of_modalias() buffer length. of_modalias() passes a NULL output pointer with a nonzero length to vsnprintf(), and a negative ssize_t length becomes a huge size_t buffer bound. No authentication or user interaction is required; the bounded reported consequence is a kernel oops and service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
